500 Words celebrated its 10th anniversary during its 2020 Final on Friday 12th June.

Hot on its heels, a new competition was launched intended to encourage important conversations at home, at school and across the nation, on the themes and issues emerging from the Black Lives Matter movements around the world. The initiative encouraged children to tap into their own creativity and imagination, using storytelling to share their experience and understanding of how different ethnicities and cultures interact.

Some of our children entered the competition and we are delighted to announce that Felix, Rowan, Dahlia, George and Lyla were selected as 5 of the 2500 who progressed to the second round.

What a wonderful achievement when you consider how many thousands of children entered the competition! Well done everyone!

Oli is super proud of completing his goal in the summer reading challenge and wanted to share his certificate with you all. He initially set his goal as 10 books to read when he started the challenge last month, but has now read 24 books already! Some of his reads have included George's Marvellous Medicine, The Twits, Bad Dad and The Beast of Buckingham Palace by David Walliams and books from the Tom Gates series.
